Well, not quite but it’s really not very far off. This year will see what could most generously be called the curve-challenged, new Nissan Cube. At least they gave it an appropriate name.

Now, don’t get me wrong: the new Nissan certainly has some funky little elements to it – the rear tailgate opening, the oddly nautical like front doors, that weird wrap-around window at the back and when it’s in white it certainly looks like something that’d compliment your iPod… but, really, how many people are going to notice that given that the thing looks like something that was designed purely with a set square?

Cube is really the word. Strangely enough, Nissan are aiming this one at the college-age motorist and, Stateside, have headed off to colleges to find some students to come up with some perfectly youth-aimed ad campaigns for it. So… Nissan have done away with their own ad agency as well as their designers that have been introduced to the concept of shapes?

What do you think, could you get over the lack of shape to drive a new Cube?

New Peugeot 107 - a great rear view?

My partner just got her 107 back from our local Kent Peugeot dealer after its service and is now thrilled with it. Though it has inspired a debate between us. She believes that her car has… how to put this delicately… the best rear end she’s seen on a car.

Being somewhat biased I disagree and say that my car looks better from, frankly all angles. But I’ve been wrong before. I was sat behind one in traffic this morning, oddly enough behind a 107 (seems there’s a lot people getting a new Peugeot 107 in Kent) and I really do like the little thing but I’m still not convinced that it’s back is the greatest angle for it.

Obviously it can’t compete with the supercars for styling but it’s a cute little thing, right? So I want to open this one up to debate.. does the new Peugeot 107 have a great rear end? What car is the current favourite for tail design?

While browsing through a Sussex Renault dealer site I came across this and had to check around online to make sure it was what it said it was. It’s the new Renault Laguna Coupe.

New Renault Laguna Coupe

Renault Lagunas are well known for their motoring reliability and their engines but not, let’s be honest, their looks. So it looks like Renault have gone all out in designing the looks of this one and if it’s as sound mechanically as the normal Laguna they have to be on to a winner, right? Especially for the low price tag.

I’m really quite excited about this car. Is it me or is the best looking car Renault have made? The new Renault Laguna Coupe is surely the most attractive car you’ll get for under 30k, or are there better looking cars for the same price?
